Car insurance: elimination of the green card on 1/4/2024

From April 1, 2024, motorists and users of motorized two-wheelers will no longer be required to affix the insurance sticker on their vehicle, nor to hold the green insurance card in their vehicle (decree published in the Official Journal on 9/12/2023)

Proof of insurance will now be provided by consulting the Insured Vehicle File (FVA), which compiles all third-party car insurance contracts in France. This file is accessible to law enforcement during checks.

Technical inspection of MOTORCYCLES, 3 WHEELS, QUADS, CARS WITHOUT LICENSE on 4/15/2024

concerns all vehicles before 2017

First inspection 5 years after entry into circulation

Then every 3 years

1st inspection to be carried out no later than 4 months after the anniversary date of entry into service, without going beyond 12/31


Regarding registrations:

ANTS will therefore block the possibility of registering if the technical inspection has not been passed, exactly as it is already the case for light vehicles (VP) and vans (CTT)
